#28 is here.

#27 October 3, 1982 Joe Morgan

9 out at the beginning of the month, the Giants went 20-7 in September, sweeping the Dodgers in LA the weekend before, to put themselves in position to win the NL West and make the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.  The day before, that hope ended, with a 15-2 Dodger win.

Here, on the last day of the season, Joe Morgan hit a two out, two strike, 3 run homer in the 7th inning to break a 2-2 tie.  The Giants won 5-3, knocking LA out of the pennant race.

It's telling that one of the thirty greatest moments in the history of Candlestick had nothing to do with advancing the Giants - but was just about hurting the Dodgers.

#26 is tomorrow.  Bearing down on the 25 greatest moments in Candlestick History.
