a jim jividen blog
Here's the thing. I'm watching one of these shows on the Cooking Channel featuring food trucks. There's a Scottish expat making fish and chips; in a thick brogue he somewhat wearily explains his irritation with Americans who habitually order a side of tartar sauce: "tartar sauce is basically gherkins." That's this blog. I claim no particular insight, no revelation. If you enjoy the flavor, great, but this blog is basically gherkins.

Sanchez has 5 career starts against the Phils. He's never allowed more than 5 hits in any of them.
Sanchez hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in a start since August. That's 9 straight sub 3 earned run starts.

9-5 (Dodgers) 7 IP, 0ER, 9K, 1BB
9-10 (Padres) 5IP, 0ER, 4K, 7BB (the bad Sanchez, with the walks)
9-16 (Dodgers) 7IP, 1ER, 12K, 0BB (the good Sanchez, with the strikeouts)
9-22 (Cubs) 5 2/3 IP, 1ER, 6K, 2BB
9-28 (DBacks) 6IP, 2ER, 6K, 4BB
10-3 (Padres) 5IP, 0ER, 5K, 5BB
10-10 (Braves - NLDS Game 3) 7 1/3 IP, 1ER, 11K, 1BB
10-17 (Phils - NLCS Game 2) 6IP, 2ER, 7K, 3BB
Can we win tonight, please? I'm not looking forward to a game 7.
