7 Rams teams have moved forward - the '70 Team is seeded 11th in the region, 2nd in defense and 4th in offense.  The All Pro on defense is 30 year old Merlin Olsen, he and 32 year old Deacon Jones look to get to Staubach -- battle of the defensive lines in this game. 30 year old Roman Gabriel had 17 scores and 12 picks. 29 year old Bob Brown is an All Pro.

Likely a conservative, hard hitting 1970s style game - two smart, talented, All Time defensive lines looking to get after it.  Let's go to Dallas for the kick.

1st Qtr
Alvin Haywood returnd the opening kick to the 40, good field position for LA.

2 first downs on the drive, the biggest play a 15 yard Roman Gabriel to Pat Studstill connection - but the drive ends in a Rams failure to convert a 4th down and Dallas takes over at their own 34.

Dallas doesn't get a first down and they'll be kicking from their own 15.

Rams in buisness at the Dallas 46.

Dallas at the 22.

At the 2 minute warning, Rams at the 25.

They get a big first down, Larry Smith rumbling for 33 yards - but on 4th and short from the Cowboy 38 Gabriel's sacked by Randy White and Dallas takes over at the 43 with a tick more than a minute left in the half and all 3 timeouts.

1/10 - Staubach goes downfield to Richards, picture perfect pass, 26 yards and Dallas stops the clock.

1/10 - Newhouse gets 3 yards on the sweep, he's out of bounds.
2/7 - Staubach to Drew Pearson, 14 yard pickup all the way to the Ram 3 yard line, Dallas uses its final timeout, there's 37 seconds left to go in the half.
1/goal - Staubach gets sacked - Merlin Olsen - and the clock is running and Dallas can't stop it -- that's the thing Dallas couldn't do - take that sack, Staubach has to hurry.
2/goal - Staubach - End Zone -- Tony Hill --- TOUCHDOWN COWBOYS -- Dallas ends the half with 2 scores.

Third Qtr: Cowboys 14 Rams 3
It took Dallas a quarter and a half, but they find an offensive rhythm, Staubach with a couple of scores and Dallas is up double digits.

Dallas at the 20.

1/10 - Newhouse goes for 10 yards.
1/10 - Dorsett for 5.

Dallas is in great shape now, up 2 scores with a second and goal.

2/goal - Newhouse gets one more.
3/goal - Preston Pearson....Into the End Zone....TOUCHDOWN COWBOYS and at 24-3 this hill seems too step for the Rams to climb.

LA at the 32.

1/10 - Les Josephson gets 1
2/9 - Gabriel to Studstill for 18 yards to the Cowboy 49.
1/10 - Smith for 1

They get a first down, 11 yard Snow reception - but Harvey Martin's second sack ends the drive and again, Dallas takes over on downs.  5 minutes left in the game.

They stay on the ground, Dorsett 10 yard run gets a first down, but with a little over 2 left, they punt, LA ball at their own 17.

The rest of the game is LA moving down the field - a 20 yard pass from Gabriel to Truax the biggest play, Randy White gets his second sack - and when Dallas again stops LA on a 4th down, the game is over.
