The '15 Seahawks who had the best defense in the league.  We get a battle of top end defenses with the winner heading to play the best defense of all time; Region 2 really bringing the defensive intensity.  30 year old Michael Bennett/29 year old Cliff Avril combined for 19 sacks. The offense is #4; Russell Wilson's 27, threw for 34 scores and 8 picks. 27 year old Doug Baldwin caught 14 scores; 23 year old rookie Tyler Lockett was All Pro, he returned two kicks for scores.  The Seahawks beat the '77 Rams in OT in a battle of FGs.  

Top defenses, 4th ranked offenses, 4th and 5th seeds in the region - this game is a full pick 'em.  Let's go to Kansas City for the kick.  

1st Qtr:
Seahawks at the 34.

1/10 - Thomas Rawls opens with a 9 yard run.
2/1 - Rawls for 6.
1/10 - Aaron Brown sacks  Russell Wilson.
2/12 - Wilson makes his way back to the original line of scrimmage.
3/10 - Wilson to Marshawn Lynch out of the backfield -- Lynch rumbling all the way to the Chiefs 35 yard line.
1/10 - Wilson 7 yards to Jimmy Graham.  
2/3 - Rawls goes 8 yards to the Chiefs 20.  

The drive ends here - the Hauschka FG makes it 3-0.

Noland Smith takes the kick all the way back to the 49, we are halfway through the first quarter.

1/10 - Robert Holmes opens with a 1 yard gain.
2/9 - Len Dawson to Mike Garrett; the former Heisman winner gets the first down.
1/10 - Garrett for 3.
2/7 - Wendell Hayes picks up the first down, the Chiefs are at the 31.
1/10 - Garrett for 4.
2/6 - Dawson to Holmes --- Holmes rumbling through the Seattle defense -- Holmes all the way to the Seattle 5 yard line!
1/goal - Holmes gets 3.
2/goal - Hayes is stopped.  
3/goal -- Holmes is stopped --- The Chiefs have a 4th and goal at the 2 - and Hank Stram is gonna go for it - okay, big early moment here, near the end of the first qtr, Seattle up 3-0, Chiefs are gonna go on 4th and goal at the 2.

4/goal - Give to Garrett...he works his way to the line --- big pile up -- the bodies getting picked up --- the officials say --- TOUCHDOWN CHIEFS -- Seattle fans won't like that call from this 1968 officiating crew - very, very close call, but they say the nose of the football hit the plane and KC takes the lead.

Seattle will start at the 30 as the second qtr begins.

2nd Qtr: Chiefs 7 Seahawks 3
Two long drives, Seattle's led to 3 and the Chiefs led to 7. Seattle's turn again at the 30.

1/10 - Rawls is buried in the backfield.
2/14 - Lynch stopped after a yard.
3/13 - Wilson hits Jermaine Kearse, just rifles one in a tight window - Kearse has some room to move, he goes for 16 yards, it's a first down at the 43.
1/10 - Lynch gets 1.
2/9 - Wilson finds Tyler Lockett in space, Lockewtt with a step - Lockett's gonna go 22 yards all the way to the Kansas City 34 -- Wilson effective early against this terrific defense.  
1/10 - Bryce Brown gets a carry, 3 yards.
2/7 - Wilson 5 yards to Kearse, Seattle at the 26.  An offsides call on the next play gives Seattle a first down, a false start on the following play makes it 1st and 15 from the 26.
1/15 - Lynch gets a yard.
2/14 - Wilson in trouble, able to get a yard. 
3/13 - Wilson --- Wilson over the middle to Jimmy Graham -- Graham breaks a tackle -- JIMMY GRAHAM IS GONNA GO --- TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS - On 3rd and 13, Russell Wilson 24 yard TD pass to Jimmy Graham and Seattle takes the 10-7 lead!  We thought this might be an all defensive game - not so far; that's Seattle's first TD of the tournament.  

Chiefs at the 35.

1/10 - Holmes gets 1.
2/9 - Incomplete
3/9 Dawson hits Elijah Pitts, Pitts makes his way for a 16 yard pickup and KC crosses midfield.

The drive ends here - KC with the game's first punt.  Seattle to start at the 14.

3 and out.  Chiefs get another big Noland Smith return - he goes all the way to the Seattle 29 yard line!  Huge return and the Chiefs are in business.

They can't advance the ball - Stenerud hits the FG and with less than 3 to play in the half we are tied at 10.

Seattle at the 31.

3 and out including a Bobby Bell sack - there's less than a minute left -- and Noland Smith continues to put enormous pressure on Seattle, he takes the punt back to the Seattle 33 - the second year man from Tennessee St having a tremendous first half and the Chief have a chance to add more points.

1/10 - Dawson goes to Otis Taylor - excellent sideline grab, Taylor out of bounds at the Seattle 16.  

That's as far as it goes - and at the end of the half - Stenerud hits the FG and KC is up 13-10.

3rd Qtr: Chiefs 13 Seahawks 10
KC winning the battle of field position with special teams, a couple of Stenerud FGs gives KC the lead - winner will head to Chicago to face the '85 Bears.  

KC at the 24.

1/10 - End around to Otis Taylor, 4 yards.
2/6 - Garrett stopped in the backfield,
3/9 - Dawson to Holmes -- he marches to a 12 yard gain and a first down.
1/10 - 4 for Garrett.
2/6 - Holmes for 1.  Another third down for the Chiefs.
3/5 - Wendell Hayes picks it up, it's 11 yards, the Chiefs cross midfield.

The drive ends here - KC has to punt and Tyler Lockett busts a return all the way back to midfield!  Seattle is in business at midfield with 9 left to play in the third.

3 and out including a sack from the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.  

Chiefs get the ball back, 7 left in the third, at the 21.

1/10 - A dozen for Holmes
1/10- - 3 for Holmes.
2/7 - Dawson to Hayes, 4 yards to the 40.  
3/3 - Dawson finds Reggie Carolan - it's a 7 yard pickup and a first down, an illegal procedure moves KC back for a 1st and 15 at their own 42.
1/15 - Garrett busts a 9 yard pickup.
2/6 - Hayes right up the middle for the first down - Chiefs at the Seahawks 42.

But -- that's as far as it goes - KC has a 4th and 2 at the Seattle 34, decides against the long Stenerud FG - but the Holmes carry is stopped right at the line by a hurtling Bobby Wagner, he meets him with a thud.  Seattle ball at the 34, 90 seconds left in the quarter, down by 3.

1/10 - Wilson to Doug Baldwin, 8 yards.
2/1 - Rawls for 1
3/1 - Wilson -- Kearse in space, Kearse with the 17 yard pickup - the drive ends right here, the Seahawks at the KC 40 yard line.

4th Qtr: Chiefs 13 Seahawks 10
15 minutes left in the tournament for one of these teams - hard hitting defensive matchup, as anticipated, Seattle first down at the 40.

1/10  Give to Marshawn Lynch, 4.
2/6 - Lynch again and he picks it up, Seahawks at the KC 29.

And that's as far as it goes -- Hauschka hits the game tying FT, there's 11 and a half minutes left in the game and it is 13 all.

Chiefs at the 30.

1/10 - Hayes for 2
2/8 - Dawson finds Gloster Richardson, its his first reception, it's a first down to the 42.
1/10 - Holmes busts for 11.  Chiefs across midfield with a little more than 9 to go in a tie game.
1/10 - 1 for Garrett.
2/9 - 1 for Garrett.  
3/9 - Dawson -- Downfield --- Otis Taylor -- it's a 19 yard pickup - First down at the Seattle 27 yard line!
1/10 - Holmes is stopped at the line.
2/10 - Dawson to Hayes for 5.  
3/5- Dawson is flushed, Dawson forced from the pocket -- Lenny Dawson dives for the first down -- he's got it after the measurement -- big call by the 1968 crew here, it's a first down for the Chiefs with a little more than 5 minutes left in the game.  
1/10 - Holmes for 3, a false start on the next play makes is 2nd and 12.
2/12 - Dawson is sacked - Michael Bennett gets home, Chiefs 3rd and long at the 21.
3/16 - Dawson -- Otis Taylor -- Taylor's got a step -- Taylor has the first down - he is knocked out of bounds at the 3 yard line!! With less than 3 minutes to play in the game, the Chiefs are at the Seattle 3 yard line!!!

1/goal - Play action -- Dawson -- End Zone --- Incomplete
2/goal - Garrett --- stopped just short of the goal line.
3/goal - Dawson - quarterback plunge........STOPPED!  Dawson is stopped at the goal line - we are under 2 minutes left -- Stenerud comes on, hits the chip shot and KC has the lead 16-13, Seattle getting a chance here, they have all 3 timeouts, less than two to play.

Seattle at the 19.

1/10 - Wilson on the option - Wilson keeps -- Wilson using the legs, its a 15 yard pickup, Seahawks at the 34, Seattle uses their first timeout.  1:36 left.
1/10 - Wilson to Jimmy Graham - he's got 10 yards, first down at the 44, Wilson hustling to the line.
1/10 - Incomplete, a false start makes it 1st and 15 at their own 39, 1:12 left, Seattle still has two timeouts, they trail by 3.
1/15 - Incomplete
2/15 - Draw to Rawls, he's got 5 yards - Pete Carroll stops the clock here, 52 seconds left, third and 10 at the 44.
3/10 - Wilson --- Looking Downfield --- Lockett --- Lockett's Got It - Lockett's Got it -- First Down, Out of Bounds at the Chiefs 30 yard line!  37 seconds left in the football game and Seattle is at the KC 30!

1/10 - Wilson to Baldwin, 5 yards and out of bounds.  
2/5 - Buck Buchanan with the huge sack -- Seattle has to burn its final timeout, Seattle has a third and 13 at the 33, just 18 seconds left in the football game.

From here it's a 50 yard FG - Wilson can't take another sack, Seattle out of timeouts - big spot here on third and 13.

3/13 -- Wilson --- Baldwin -- He's Got the First Down - Doug Baldwin with the 20 yard pickup -- the Clock is Running -- the Clock is Running -- Wilson hurrying to the line --- he is able to clock the football with 3 seconds left -- Seattle at the 13 yard line!

Steven Hauschka comes on - just 3 seconds left in regulation - if he hits it, we head to OT.

We're off to OT - we just saw the Bears beat the Chargers in OT and here's another one - Chargers/Chiefs headed to Sudden Death.

2/2 - Dawson - Looking for PICKED OFF --- PICKED OFF -- RICHARD SHERMAN PICKS OFF LENNY DAWSON -- Sherman goes all the way to the 2 yard line!  Richard Sherman Intercepts Len Dawson -- Seattle is at the 2 Yard line in Overtime!  The Seahawks at the 2!

1/goal - Give to Lynch -- TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS - Marshawn Lynch is Into The End Zone -- this Kansas City crowd is shocked - it is done -- the Seattle Seahawks beat the Chiefs - they will head to Chicago for the regional semi final to face the '85 Bears!!!!!
