2010-11 NBA Predictions

Monday, October 18, 2010

Yes, they've decided to play basketball this year.  Season starts next week.  Next to my predicted win total is the Vegas over/under total for that team (in the parenthetical) you can see where some investments (no crazy great investments, but some investments) might make sense.  Later this week, I'll have my advanced metric aided look at the top 50 players in the NBA, 2010-11 version.

East

Atlantic
Boston 47 (Vegas  53.5)
New York 40 (35.5)
Philadelphia 38 (35.5)
New Jersey 33 (25.5)
Toronto 29 (26.5)

Central
Chicago 49 (46.5)
Milwaukee 46 (45.5)
Cleveland 34 (29.5)
Indiana 33 (34.5)
Detroit 29 (31.5)

Southeast
Miami 62 (64.5)
Orlando 54 (56.5)
Atlanta 41 (46.5)
Charlotte 31 (39.5)
Washington 27 (34.5)

That makes the playoffs:

1. Miami
2. Orlando
3. Chicago
4. Boston
5. Milwaukee
6. Atlanta
7. New York
8. Philadelphia

West

Southwest
San Antonio 52 (50.5)
Dallas 48 (49.5)
New Orleans 46 (40.5)
Houston 41 (47.5)
Memphis 37 (38.5)

Northwest
Portland 55 (51.5)
Oklahoma City 49 (52.5)
Denver 47 (43.5)
Utah 44 (49.5)
Minnesota 28 (23.5)

Pacific
Los Angeles Lakers 51 (57.5)
Golden St. 40 (30.5)
Phoenix 38 (42.5)
Sacramento 35 (27.5)
Los Angeles Clippers 27 (36.5)

The playoffs -

1. Portland
2. San Antonio
3. Los Angeles
4. OK City
5. Dallas
6. Denver
7. N Orleans
8. Utah

I'll say the finals are what everyone wants - Miami v. Lakers, with the Heat getting the chip.

Coming next time will be my look at the players - top 50 players in the NBA this season, and my "All Star" rosters for each conference.
