2014-15 Divisional Round Playoff Picks + National Championship Pick

Thursday, January 8, 2015

I went 4-0 straight up and 3-1 ATS last week

This week, nothing but straight favorites and dogs against the number.

Balt + 7 NE (Patriots win)
Colts +7 Denver (Broncos win)

Panthers +10.5 Seattle (Seahawks win)
Cowboys +6 GB (Packers win)

And I'm doing the same thing with the national title game.

Ohio St. +7 Oregon (Ducks win).

Forever Giants:1942 New York Giants(Year 60)

1941 is here.

My WAR calculation is a combination of Baseball-reference and Clay Davenport; I believe it to be the "best" WAR number available for historical comparison. 8 WAR is an MVP quality season.  The record is pythagorean adjusted for 162 games.

1942 89-73
C Harry Danning 2.2 (19.85) Last Season

3B Billy Werber .95
LF Babe Barna .4
CF Willard Marshall  .75
RF Mel Ott 6.6
SS Dick Bartell 2.25
Ut Babe Young 2.55
OF Buster Maynard .5
OF Hank Leiber .45
C Gus Mancuso -.1
SP Hal Schumacher 3.55

SP Cliff Melton 3.1

-All time great Johnny Mize comes to the Giants; they forfeit a September game against a rookie named Warren Spahn when kids (who got free admission for bringing scrap metal to the park) couldn't be kept off the field.  It's Danning's last season and Mize/Schumacher are both about to miss the next three years for military service.
