-Baltimore holds the Niners to just 12 first downs, they averaged just 2.2 yards a carry, but 31 year old Jerry Rice caught 5 balls for 114 yards and a score and the Niners advance. 2 sacks for Bill Romanowski; Norm Bulaich rushed for 124 in the losing effort.

-Tied, middle of the 4th qtr, Pete Stoyanovich hits a FG to give KC the lead, on the next Bears possession 30 year old Derrick Thomas strip sacks Billy Wade, Marcus Allen plunges into the end zone a few plays later and the Chiefs advance. Just 10 first downs on the day for the winners.

-The Steel Curtain shuts the Titans down; 5 first downs, 116 total yards, 14 minute time of possession disparity. Sacks from LC Greenwood and Jack Ham. A pick from Mike Wagner.

-New England sprinted out to a 24-0 lead, Corey Dillon had a 32 yard TD run and Tom Brady threw touchdown passes to David Givens and Daniel Graham. San Francisco storms back, Steve Young throwing TD passes to Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Marc Logan. Through 3 qtrs the Patriots led 27-21. Early in the 4th qtr a Logan TD run gave the Niners a 28-27 lead. New England came back with an Adam Vinatieri FG, the Pats taking a 30-28 lead with 10 minutes to play. The Niners drove down the field, setting up a 28 yard Mike Cofer FG that would have given the Niners the lead - and he missed it. The Patriots then iced the rest of the game, driving down the field for another Brady-Givens TD hookup for the final score. 141 yard rushing for 30 year old Corey Dillon.

-We'll have a a battle of Super Bowl Champions in the upper half of the region 7 semifinal, Pittsburgh holding the Chiefs to 8 first downs and under 2 yards per rush. 113 yards on the ground and a score for 32 year old Rocky Bleier. 2 TD passes for 30 year old Terry Bradshaw. 2 sacks and an interception for 26 year old Jack Lambert.

-Region 7 looks to have the most top heavy semi-final; 3 of the top 4 seeds have made it and the second seed is still to come. Headed to the 4th qtr, the Pack led 7-6 and then the Packers stepped on the gas - back to back long drive ending in Jim Taylor TD runs, a long Lamar Jackson TD run made it 21-13 Packers, but that was it for Baltimore, the Pack tacking on a game icing FG. 120 yards rushing for the 26 year old Taylor. Derrick Henry ran for 131 yards in the loss. 26 year old Henry Jordan had a couple of sacks.

-The 4 top seeds in the region have all made their way to the regional semi-final. 113 yards rushing for 28 year old Marshall Faulk. 29 year old Isaac Bruce had 126 yards receiving. 6 catches for 85 yards and 2 scores for 25 year old Torry Holt. 30 year old Kurt Warner is 20-29, 355 and 3 scores.

-Terry Bradshaw only completed 9 passes- but Tom Brady completed just 8, with 3 interceptions including a Jack Lambert pick 6. 2 sacks for Mike Wagner, 2 picks for Mel Blount, the Steeler defense griding their way to the Region 7 Finals.
'01 RAMS 30 '61 PACKERS 24
-The Rams trailed 21-20 heading to the 4th qtr, they got a Jeff Wilkins FG to take a 23-21 lead with 8 minutes left, forced a Packer punt and then Marshall Faulk busted it open with a 63 yard TD run that essentially ended the game. 222 yards from scrimmage and 2 scores for Faulk. 2 sacks for Leonard Little.
REGIONAL FINAL

We will have our 7th organization to win a region; the 2001 Rams went 14-2, 1st in offense, 7th in defense, they lost the Super Bowl to the Patriots. Warner, Faulk, Orlando Pace and Aeneas Williams were all First Team All pros, they also all Hall of Famers, joined by Isaac Bruce. And they host the Super Bowl Champion Steelers, 14-2, beat the Cowboys team that won Region 6 in the Super Bowl. First in defense, fifth in offense. Bradshaw, Swann, Mike Webster, Jack Ham were all First Team All Pros and they are all in the Hall of Fame, joined by Franco, Stallworth, Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount and Donnie Shell.
We head to St Louis for the Region 7 Final.
'01 RAMS 20 '78 STEELERS 16
13-13 as they went to the 4th qtr, TDs by Rocky Bleier and Torry Holt; Marshall Faulk ran in a short TD early in the 4th and then just had to hold on - Pittsburgh had an 11 play, 55 yard drive that gave them a 1st and goal at the 2 - Bleier got stuffed at the line, Bradshaw threw an incompletion - on third down, a Leonard Little sack ended the drive and the Roy Gerela kicked the short FG. The Steelers would force a Rams punt, getting the ball back at their own 16 with a little over 4 minutes to play. They made it to the Ram 39 yard line - but turned it over on downs and St Louis was able to run out the clock and win the region - the Rams advance and will face the eventual winner of region 10.
