-A pretty good round one upset, the 4th seeded Pack head home. Aaron Rodgers threw his second TD pass of the day, this one to Greg Jennings, with 6 minutes to play, and it gave Green Bay a 24-21 lead. The Pack forced a quick Bengal punt - but on Green Bay's first play, Geno Atkins forced a James Starks fumble, the Bengals took over at the Packer 30, and 5 plays later 28 year old Andy Dalton hit Marvin Jones with an 11 yard TD pass for the final score of the game. It was Jones' second TD of the game; Atkins and Michael Johnson each had two sacks for the Bengals.

-Steve Young hit Jerry Rice with a 40 yard score 90 seconds into the game and the Niners ease into round 2. 2 sacks for Larry Roberts. Jim Brown had 161 yards from scrimmage and a TD for Cleveland.

-Denver led 24-0 through 3 quarters; 2 TD passes for John Elway, 3 interceptions for the Bronco defense including a Darrien Gordon pick 6. Rick Casares rushed for 125 for Chicago.

-OT win sends the Steelers into the Region 8 semifinal. The Eagles had a 13-0 halftime lead, Bosh Pritchard with a short TD run. It was still 13-6 with under 2 minutes to play when the Steelers took possession at their own 18. 3 plays later it was 4th and 10 - Ben Roethlisberger hit Hines Ward with a 19 yard first down. With 52 seconds left at 3rd and 2 on their own 45, Roethlisberger found Antonio Brown. And with 8 seconds left in the game, 3rd and 11 at the Eagle 22 - Roethlisberger hits Heath Miller in the back of the end zone for the game tying score.
In OT Rashard Mendenhall busted a 43 yard run, Shaun Suisham hit a 53 yard walk off FG and the Eagles are into the region 8 semi.

-The 1952 Lions will be hosting a regional semi-final. The Lions went up 13-0 and held on, Bobby Layne TD pass to Jug Girard and a Bob Hoernschemeyer TD run. Bobby Layne completed 7 passes and the Lions advance. Bob Smith gets a couple of picks.

-The top remaining seed in region 8 moves to the regional semi. Big game for Ed McCaffrey, 5 balls, 125 yards and a score. Ray Crockett had a pick and a sack.

-Kevin Faulk busted this one open with a 65 yard punt return for a score in the second quarter. 2 sacks for Rosevelt Colvin.

-Only one 20th century team has won a region, the '78 Cowboys - go back another quarter century and now the 1952 Lions will be playing in the region 8 final. Pittsburgh had a 13-7 lead entering the 4th qtr, they exchanged multiple punts, the Lions took possession at the Steeler 46 with 1:36 to play. The big play - Bobby Layne hitting Jug Girard with a 27 yard gain. The Steelers sacked Layne on back to back plays to put the Lions at the Steeler 33 with 28 seconds left, and after an incomplete pass, the Lions were staring at 4th and 24, at the Steeler 33. 21 seconds left. No timeouts.
26 year old Bobby Layne found Cloyce Box in the endzone for the game winning TD.
Pandemonium in Detroit, a miraculous comeback moves the Lions into the Region 8 Final.

-New England trailed 21-13 entering the 4th qtr and scored 16 unanswered to reach the region 8 final. 29 year old Tom Brady throws 4th Qtr TD passes to Troy Brown and Chad Jackson. John Elway got throttled, 2 picks, 5 sacks, including 2 from Ty Warren.

5. 1952 LIONS v. 7. 2006 PATRIOTS
-The 1952 Detroit Lions went 9-3, beating the Browns to win the NFL Championship. 1st in defense, second in offense. They are coached by Buddy Parker; five first team All Pros - Bobby Layne, Cloyce Box, Lew Creekmur, Thurman McGraw, Jack Christiansen. Layne/Creekmur/Christiansen are all in the Hall of Fame, as is Yale Lary, Dick Stanfel and Doak Walker.
-The 2007 Patriots are the top overall seed in the tournament and have already won region 1, the year before, the Patriots went 12-4, won the AFC East and lost in the AFC Title game to the Colts. 2nd in defense, 7th in offense, the HC is Bill Belichick, they did not have any First Team All Pros. Junior Seau and Richard Seymour are both in the Hall of Fame.
