Simulated Super Bowl 29 (1994 Playoffs)

Wednesday, August 20, 2025

Actual Result: San Francisco 49ers 49 San Diego Chargers 26, the Niners 5th and most recent SB title.

Simulation: Dallas has not gone back to back, in fact, they haven't won a SB in 13 years, it's the Oilers who come into 1994 as defending champs - they go 2-14 and will not defend that title.  The Niners not only already have 5, they have 6, tied for the high all time mark with Dallas.  Rising are the Steelers, it's been 15 years since their 4th SB, but they have home field advantage throughout the AFC postseason.

Dallas 35 GB 9

COWBOYS 37  PACKERS 6
The simulation has taken away the Niner/Cowboy rivalry, the early 70s conference championships, the conference championships the past two years - the Catch - all gone, all of it - but yet, when Dallas goes to San Francisco next week for the NFC Championship, it is still monumental - both teams with a record 6 Super Bowl wins battling to see who will go to SB29 with a chance for #7.

AFC DIVISIONAL ROUND
Jan 8, 1995
Miami Dolphins (10-6) at San Diego Chargers (11-5)
60 degrees
SD -3
Chargers 22 Dolphins 21

CHARGERS 27  DOLPHINS 23
The simulation matches the real world result, Cowboys/Niners in the NFC, Chargers/Steelers in the AFC.  A San Diego/Dallas SB would be a rematch of SB17, which Dallas won 30-10. A Steeler/Cowboy SB would take us back an additional 10 years, to Pittsburgh's defeat of the Cowboys in SB7.  Any matchup with the Niners would be a first time.
