#21 is here.

#20 December 28, 1992 The Best For Last

The last game of the 1992 regular season, a rainy Monday Night at Candlestick, was meaningless.  The Detroit Lions played as they generally did and the 49ers had home field throughout the playoffs clinched.

The Niners led 7-6 in the third quarter (do you remember who scored San Francisco's first half touchdown without looking it up?  I dare you - it's Marc Logan) in a game that would not be recalled on a list like this except for what happened next.

For the very last time (and for the first time in almost two years) Joe Montana played quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

15 of 21.  126 yards.  28 yards rushing.  2 touchdown passes (Brent Jones and, naturally, Joe's last Niner TD pass was to....Amp Lee. That's why they play the games.)

The Niners won.  Naturally.  And Joe was gone.

The 19th greatest moment in Candlestick Park history is tomorrow.
