Projected win total and former Giants spread across the league included.
AL East
1. TB 90
2. Tor 87 - Melky in LF. Rajai Davis is the 4th OF. Mark DeRosa looks to break camp as the utility player.
3. NYY 85 - Chris Stewart, recent 3rd string catcher, starts for the Yankees. Onetime prospect David Aardsma did not make short relief. Former farmhand Thomas Neal is not going to make the club.
4. Bos 82
5. Balt 79- Travis Ishikawa is not going to make the club.
AL Central
1. Det 92
2. KC 80 - Xavier Nady, a late season pickup last year, is maybe in line to be the last man on the roster or a AAA call up.
3. Cle 78
4. CWS 78 - Jeff Keppinger, 2011 second baseman, is the third baseman for the Sox. Conor Gillespie, who has a 2012 ring, breaks camp as the utility player.
5. Min 65 - longtime Giant Kevin Correia is in the rotation.
AL West
1. LAA 91 - Jerome Williams is the longman.
2. Tex 88 - the hated AJ Pierzynski is catching, one of the men we traded for him, Joe Nathan, closes. Eli Whiteside probably does not make the club.
3. Oak 84
4. Sea 75
5. Hou 67
NL East
1. Wash 91
2. Atl 88
3. Phil 80 - Native son Kevin Frandsen is the utility man.
4. NYM 75 - sometime this season - Zack Wheeler. Now even a better prospect than when we moved him. Somewhere in the pen - 40 year old LaTroy Hawkins
5. Mia 63 - we released Wilson Valdez (thank god) last week; he just missed making the Marlins as a utility guy.
NL Central
1. Cin 92 - Emmanuel Burriss does not look like he'll make the club. Neither does Clay Hensley
2. StL 83 - the man whose 2 months were somehow worth Wheeler, Carlos Beltran, continues as the Cards RF.
3. Mil 80
4. Pit 78 - Jonathan Sanchez and Francisco Liriano might wind up batting for a spot in the rotation if/when Liriano comes off the DL. One time superprospect Jason Grilli is the new closer
5. Chi 75 - the RF? Nate Schierholtz.
NL West
1. SFG 88
2. LAD 87 - Juan Uribe, still getting his 2010 playoff bonus paycheck, looks to open the season as the third baseman.
3. Ari 82 - injured to start the season, but eventually the RF is Cody Ross
4. SD 78 - briefly a Giant, Jesus Guzman pinch hits. In the battle for the last man standing from the 2002 Giants left in MLB, Cody Ransom breaks camp as the utility guy
5. Col 71 - The other half of that battle, Yorvit Torrealba looks for one more backup catching season.
