Any reason why this had to be wrapped up 10 days early?
I remember when a no-hitter was good enough to get the nod for athlete of the month. This year we've had three perfect games, two of them among the most dominant pitching performances of all time, and they've all barely received a nomination. Sign of the declining influence of baseball?
And will you be stripping Lance Armstrong of his 2003 and 2004 titles now?
You made me go back and look, Joe, as I could have sworn I only gave Armstrong one of these. It was '03; Manning won in '04.
Hell, no, back then I was saying he was on drugs. Sports Illustrated probably has two dozen unpublished letters to the editor with my ripping them over the Bonds/Armstrong double standard. I don't care about that kind of thing.
Competitive year, the Olympics got Felix this month. Unlikely anyone else is going to crack this month's list. Andy Murray couldn't make it.
