Top 50 NBA Players - 2010-11 Edition

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

A year ago, I posted this list  of the 50 best players in the NBA.

The methodology remains the same here.  Note, this is just for this season, not beyond or behind - and the metrics just forecast regular season performance, if you think Kobe has magical postseason powers, I disagree with you, but that's not reflected in this list.  This isn't a fantasy draftboard.  I also have one of those. I've had my first fantasy draft, I'll discuss it later in this post. My pre-season picks are here.

I'm in two fantasy leagues, last year I added a third and may again this year.  12 team, $, roto, standard positions, 10 starters, 3 reserves.

C Lee, Bargnani, Bynum
-I'll play two centers a week with the extra being a flex, when Bynum's back I'll look to move one of them.
F Garnett, West, Kirelnko, A. Johnson, D Wright
-I had the 4th overall pick, not ideal, ideally you want top 3 or back of the first round, my choice was between Dirk and Kobe, I had Dirk rated higher - but decided the value was in forwards this year - faced with the same scenario again I'd make the other decision.  Wright and Johnson could both wind up as streamers, ideally you don't want two from the same position in that spot, so I'm a little softer at forward than is ideal.
G Kobe, Billups, J-Rich, Allen, Thornton
-Thornton's a big time sleeper, right now he's my fifth guard.
