Have you ever had to redo the awards after awarding them too soon? What would you do if Linecum went out and threw back to back perfect games to end the month?
I haven't, no. At least not the monthly award, maybe a weekly award.
Generally, when I award before the end of the month, it's in a circumstance where there isn't a significant event likely to happen; one perfect game or a ballplayer hitting 4 homers would be enough to crack the weekly honors, and I'd make that switch, but not enough to win the month. In a circumstance like this week, with just a few days left, and the weekend being August - it would take a historic midweek run, like a ballplayer hitting 8 homers in a couple of days, to get close to the monthly honor.
