What is this all about?

Yesterday

Here at the top 5 June 17 moments in San Francisco Giants history.

Walk off 1964 home vs Reds, a game out of first, down 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th, Willie McCovey hits a 2 run homer off of Joe Nuxhall to win the game.  It's the 21st walk off homer in San Francisco history.  It's McCovey's third.

1966 at Dodgers, we're rolling, 16 over .500, 3.5 game lead, we've won 5 straight and this one is in front of 50,000 paid in Los Angeles - 1-1 in the 8th, Willie McCovey hits a 3 run homer off Don Sutton, 4-1 is the final score.  McCovey faced Sutton more than any pitcher in his career except Drysdale and Gibson - he only hit .203, but had 8 homers.

1984 at San Diego, we're 14 back, still a hundred games left in the season and we're 14 behind the first place Padres, it's 3-3 in the 15th, Johnnie LeMaster steals second and takes third on an error by Padres catcher...Bruce Bochy....he'll later score on an Al Oliver single and we win it 5-3.

1997 home vs. Mariners, 67 games in, the Giants have a 2.5 game lead in the West, 40,000 paid on a Tuesday night at the Stick, down 3-2 in the sixth, Stan Javier hits a 2 run homer off of Jeff Fassero, those are the last runs scored, we win it 4-3. It's Javier's best Giants season, he was a 3 win player as the 4th OF.

Walk off 1999 home vs. Cubs, 66 games into the last season of the Giants second century we're 4 games back, it's 2-2 in the bottom of the 9th, one out and 2 on, Dan Serafini pitching to....Barry Bonds, whose game winning single scores Marvin Benard.  Bonds had a 156 OPS+ in '99, his lowest in a decade.

See you tomorrow.  Go Giants!
