The top seeds in the region are the '94 Niners - here we are in the bottom half and the third seeds in the region are the '87 Niners, vying to become the 10th San Francisco team to advance. 1st in offense, 3rd in defense in the scab season. Joe Montana's a 31 year old All Pro, he started 11 games, 32 scores and 13 picks. Over 1300 yards from scrimmage in 14 games for 27 year old Roger Craig, 25 year old Jerry Rice is an All Pro - in 12 games he had 23 TDs.  On defense, 27 year old Michael Carter and 28 year old Ronnie Lott are the All Pros.  The '12 Ravens beat the Niners to win the Super Bowl - there's a revenge aspect to this one.

Here come the 2012 Super Bowl Champs - not great on either side of the ball, they're here because of the chip and swimming upstream in this 14/3 matchup. Joe Flacco is 27, 25 scores and 10 picks. Over 1600 yards from scrimmage for 25 year old Ray Rice, the 31 year old FB, Vonta Leach ios al All pro, as is the kick returner who took one back in the SB, 28 year old Jacoby Jones. On defense, Ed Reed is 34, Ray Lewis 37, this is not the lock down defense seen in the first Ravens title team.  

It's the 3rd seed in the region against the 2012 champs - lets go to Candlestick for the kick.

Jacoby Jones takes the kick back to the 48.

1/10 - Ray Rice for 10 yards on the opening play.

The drive ends here - Tucker with the long FG and it's a quick 3-0 Ravens lead.

Niners start at the 32 - on the second play Ed Reed Picks Off Montana - Baltimore gets the ball back at the San Francisco 26.  

3 plays get nothing - Tucker hits another FG and it's 6-0 just 5 minutes in.

1/10 - Roger Craig for 2
2/8 - Montana - downfield - Jerry Rice -- 33 yard pickup to the Baltimore 37.
1/10 - Montana to Rathman wheeling down the sideline, green grass for Rathman, he gets to the 17 yard line.
1/10 - Craig gets 3.
2/7 - Montana - corner of the end zone -- Mike Wilson --- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS - Joe Montana takes the Niners 72 yards in 5 plays capped off by the 14 yard ball to Wilson and San Francisco takes the lead.

Ravens at the 38.  

1/10 - Joe Flacco to Vonta Leach, 8 yards.
2/2 - Leach busts a 41 yard run - big rumbling run by the fullback, down to the Niner 13.
1/10 - Bernard Pierce for 3.
2/7 - Pierce for 5
3/2 - Pierce ---- Bernard Pierce fights his way -- Into the Endzone --- TOUCHDOWN RAVENS -  Baltimore comes right back and regains the lead.  

Niners at the 30.  They go 3 and out - and then Jacoby Jones returns the punt - all the way back to the San Francisco 15 yard line!  Jones with the monster punt return and the Ravens, already up 13-7 now have the ball at the 15.

1/10 - Rice for 3.
2/7 - Flacco - EndZone -- In Traffic --- Dennis Pitta comes up with it -- TOUCHDOWN RAVENS - just as they did in the Super Bowl in 2012, the Ravens have jumped all over San Francisco - it is 20-7 with a minute left in the first qtr.

Niners at the 35.

1/10 - Montana - 7 yards to Rice. 
2/3 - Rathman with the 10 yard pickup, the Niners cross midfield as the qtr ends.

2nd Qtr: Ravens 20 49ers 7
Baltimore gets an early pick and two big Jones returns and are rolling.  Niners first down at the Raven 48.

1/10 - Montana, dump to Craig.  5 yards.
2/5 - Incomplete
3/5 - Craig with the 10 yard run, Niners at the 33.
1/10 - Joe Cribbs 4 yard pickup.  
2/6 - Craig picks up the first down -- Niners at the 23.
1/10 - Montana -- Montana Finds a Wide Open Russ Francis -- Francis strolls Into the End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS - we have a shootout here in Candlestick - Bill Walsh dials up a helluva play and Russ Francis rolls in to cut the deficit to 20-14.

Ravens at the 30.  

1/10 - 4 yards for Rice
2/6 - 14 for Rice, Ravens at the 48.  
1/10 - Michael Carter gets home, the first sack of the day.
2/13 - Dwaine Board gets to Flacco - back to back Niner sacks
3/16 - Flacco hits Torrey Smith in space -- Smith with a step -- Smith gets 16 and a first down at the Niner 37, big play there, Flacco comes back from back to back sacks to convert the big first down.  
1/10 - Rice gets 2
2/8 - 5 more for Rice.
3/3 - Bernard Pierce takes a pitch -- he's around the corner -- Pierce is running downhill - Pierce is running downhill -- Bernard Pierce is Gonna Go All The Way Into the Endzone --- TOUCHDOWN RAVENS - 30 yard Pierce run - Baltimore just overwhelming the Niner defense, it is 27-14 halfway through the second quarter - just like the Super Bowl, this is all Ravens.

Niners at the 27.

1/10 - Montana goes back to Francis, 10 yards.
1/10 - 11 yard gain for Craig, Niners quickly to the 48.
1/10 - 3 for Craig
2/7 - 2 for Rathman, 3rd down here for San Francisco.  
1/10 - Montana finds Rice, Rice runs for the first down, 14 yards to the Raven 33.
1/10- Montana in trouble, escapes, gets 2
2/8 - 3 for Craig, under 3 minutes now in the half, another 3rd and 5 for Montana, down 27-14.
3/5 - Montana - Rathman -- Rathman breaks a tackle and he's got the first down and more -- Rathman all the way to the Ravens 15 yard line.  First down.
1/10 - Montana - Ravens blitz - Walsh has the screen to Craig dialed up - Craig's got a block, Craig breaks a tackle -- Roger Craig Goes Into the End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS - 15 yard TD pass from Montana to Crag and the Niners have cut the deficit to 27-21, just under 2 minutes left in the half.  

Ravens at the 34.  

1/10 - 8 yards for Rice, Rice is out of bounds, 1:45 left.  
2/2 - Flacco - Flacco over the mid -- Picked Off by Ronnie Lott -- Ronnie Lott has some room to run -- Lott will be tackled at the Ravens 23 yard line!  Huge, huge play there -- the 49ers turn Flacco over and with a minute and a half left in the half - San Francisco has the ball at the Baltimore 23 yard line, trailing by 6.

1/10 - Montana - Rice - 6 yards to the 17.  Clock moving.  
2/4 - Montana - End Zone -- Taylor --- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS -- Joe Montana 17 yards to John Taylor  - after the XP -- the 49ers quickly score twice before the end of the half and San Francisco has taken a 28-27 lead!  We have a wild one at the Stick in this 3/14 matchup, 28-27 49ers!

Ravens at the 30.  3 and out.  The Niners get the ball back at the 36 with 40 seconds left in the half.  

They pick up 2 first downs, 13 yard Wilson reception and 13 to Dwight Clark - but a vicious Terrell Suggs sack ends the the threat - we go to the locker room 28-27.

3rd Qtr: 49ers 28 Ravens 27
Each time with a pick and a sack - the Niners score 21 second qtr points to take the lead.

Niners at the 26 - it's not Montana, it's Steve Young - Montana still in the locker room after that Terrell Suggs half ending sack. 

1/10 - Young scrambling for 6 yards.  
2/4 - Craig stopped at the line of scrimmage - an offsides on the next play gives the Niners a first down.
1/10 - 17 yard gainer for Craig and San Francisco crosses midfield.
1/10 - 7 yard gain for Joe Cribbs, Niners at the 39.
2/3- 3 for Craig
1/10- Young's first pass - it's to Rice, 6 yards.  Niners at the 30.
2/4 - Cribbs gets a yard.  
3/3 - Big gainer for Craig - he exlodes through the line -- Roger Craig to the 14 yard line, big, big play.
1/10 - Young - to John Frank -- he's got the first down - Niners at the 4 yard line.
1/goal - It's a planned run for for Young -- nothing there.  
2/goal - Young to Francis just outside the endzone -- he is wrestled down by Ray Lewis -- the 49ers have a 3rd and goal at the 1 foot line.  
3/goal - Craig -- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS -- Roger Craig plunges into the End Zone -- San Francisco goes up 35-27, less than 7 to go in the third.  

Ravens at the 34.

1/10 - End around to Torrey Smith, 7 yards
2/3 - Flacco - sideline -- Picked Off By Don Griffin!  Griffin's tackled at the Raven 43 yard line - the Niners intercept Flacco again - Niners with the lead and the ball, 6 minutes left in the third.

It's still Steve Young - the Niners go 3 and out - no long FG here, Walsh decides to punt, it's a touchback - Ravens start at the 20, less than 4 to go in the third, Niners by 8.

One first down - 11 yards from Flacco to Rice - but that's it - Niners get the ball back at the 24, it's Montana - Joe Montana now back on the field for San Francisco.  

1/10 - Craig is stopped at the line.
2/10 - 4 yards for Craig.
3/6 - Rathman picks up the first down - San Francisco running the ball, they are at the 37 as the qtr ends.

4th Qtr: 49ers 35 Ravens 27
Montana out most of the qtr, Young with the TD drive, another Flacco pick - San Francisco is up 8, with a first down at their own 37.

1/10 - Suggs gets to Montana again - Montana slow in getting up, stays in the game.
2/16 - Montana -- flips to Craig, Craig breaking tackles - great run after catch for Craig - first down across midfield.  
1/10 - Montana to Craig again, 8 yards to the Raven 40.  
2/2 - Rathman stopped.  
3/2 - Montana - Francis, at the sticks -- it's a first down.  
1/10 - Craig is stopped
2/10 - Montana to Frank, Niners at the 30, 3rd and 4.  
3/4 - Incomplete --- but Suggs is called for the late hit - Montana barking at him as he gets off the deck - it's a first down for San Francisco on the personal foul - that might be the back breaker - 49ers now at the 14 yard line, just 10 minutes to go in the game, up 8 points.  
1/10 - Montana - Craig - 5 yards
2/5 - Incomplete
3/5 - Montana -- End Zone -- Rice --- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS -- Joe Montana sticks the ball into the endzone -- it's now a 15 point game - Montana 9 yard TD strike to Jerry Rice and with 9 minutes left in the football game San Francisco is up 15.

Jones runs it back to the 40.  

1/10 - Charles Haley gets the sack.  
2/16 - Flacco 2 to Rice.
3/14 - Flacco downfield to Torrey Smith, 28 yards to the Niner 36.
1/10 - 3 yard Rice pickup.
2/7 - Anquan Boldin's first catch - 22 yards all the way to the 11 yard line.  Flacco taking Baltimore right down the field.  
1/10 - Pierce is stopped.
2/10 - Give to Rice, he gets 2.
3/8 - Flacco is sacked by Haley - that's a big, big Charles Haley sack - Ravens now have third and 10 at the 11.  There's 5 minutes left - Harbaugh decides to go for it -- big play here.

4/10 - Incomplete

That should be that - Niners take over on downs, up 42-27. They get a first down on a 34 yard Roger Craig run - the drive ends here - with 2 and a half left, there's a punt, Ravens are at their own 44.  This is just about done.

Baltimore takes the rest of the game - they go down the field, all short gains, nothing longer than 7 yards, Baltimroe uses their timeouts - Ray Rice scores with just a few seconds left to make it 42-34, there's an onside kick - San Francisco recovers and that will be the end of the game.

Baltimore was up 27-14 midway through the second quarter and then came the deluge - the 10th 49er team has moved to round 2.  Montana with the tournament TD mark playing just 3 qtrs+
