October 17 - Top 5 Moments in San Francisco Giants History

What is this all about?

Yesterday

Here are all the October 17 games that mattered in San Francisco Giants history. Nothing good to say today.

1989 World Series Game 3 is 10-27 (the earthquake was today)

2002 World Series starts 10-19

2010 NLCS Game 2, up 1-0, we won the opener last night, Game 2 is also in Philadelphia, it was tight through 6, down 2-1 (Cody Ross homered again for our run). Roy Oswalt put us down in the top of the 7th, we only had one hit to that point; Jonathan Sanchez had nearly matched him and was pulled when he gave up a leadoff single to Oswalt in the 7th.  Ramon Ramirez couldn't keep that run from scoring and we were down 3-1, and Santiago Casilla later gave up a bases loaded double to Jimmy Rollins that made it a 6-1 game and that's the final score.

2012 NLCS Game 3, we split the first two at home and now play the next 3 in St Louis. We pushed across the first run in the 3rd, they followed with a 2 run Matt Carpenter homer off of Matt Cain in their half.  And then we sat there.  We put men on the corners in the 4th, but Kyle Lohse got Angel Pagan to fly out. We had two on and two out in the 6th, the Cards went to the pen and Trevor Rosenthal got Pagan to ground out. We threatened in the 7th, 2 on and 1 out, Mitchell Boggs came on and struck out both Pence and Belt to end the inning. Cain couldn't get away unscathed from a bases loaded, 1 out situation in the bottom half, the Cards added an insurance run to go up 3-1 and that's the final score.

2014 World Series starts 10-21

See you tomorrow, only 2012 on the docket.  Go Giants!
