Okay - let's get the back half of round 1 underway with the Play in game for Region 9; the AFC Champs from '81 are the Bengals.  I believe this is it for Cincinnati - if they're moving forward, they're doing it with this team. 3rd in offense.  12th in defense.  32 year old Kenny Anderson is an All Pro, 30 scores and 10 picks. 27 year old Pete Johnson scored 16 times. 22 year old rookie Cris Collinsworth had over a thousand yeards receiving. And 23 year old Anthony Munoz is an All Pro anchoring the line.  The defense is just okay; 34 year old Kenny Riley had 5 picks.  Pat McInally also adds an All Pro member on special teams.

One shot for the Jags; one of these two franchises is about to exit the tournament, on paper, Jacksonville's the better club - they've got the top defense from '99 and the 6th best offense. 26 year old All Pro Kevin Hardy had 10.5 sacks - 25 year old Renaldo Wynn and 25 year old Tony Brackens combined for 22 more. 6 picks for 26 year old Aaron Beasley. 15 scores and 9 picks for 29 year old Mark Brunell, 13 scores for 28 year old James Stewart. Huge year in 1999 numbers for 30 year old Jimmy Smith, 116 catches for over 1600 yards.  And we get the USC battle of future Hall of Fame left tackles, Tony Boselli is a 27 year old All Pro.

Comparable offenses, but the Jags defense is just much better than the Bengals - will that be the difference or will Cincinnati's cold home field be the advantage?  Winner moves into the field and will head to Miami to face the 9th overall seed in the tournament - the 1973 Dolphins.
