Matchup:
C Kareem (Lakers)
F Duncan (Spurs)
F Wilkes (Lakers)
G Magic (Lakers)
G Ginobli (Spurs)

Quarter century difference between these two clubs; the Spurs, despite only reaching the West Semis (losing to LA) are the second seed in Region 1, so they get games 1 and 3 at home. 32 year old Kareem v 27 year old Duncan; we also have the two baby point guards; Magic's 20, Parker 21. Winner becomes our first team to advance to the Sweet 16. It's the top offense of 1980 against the top defense of 2004.

Lakers with the ball - Spurs need a stop; they don't get it - Kareem is there with the sky hook at 15 seconds left. 94-90.
Turloglu misses a triple - Duncan there with the putback. 5 seconds left.
Wilkes goes to the line. If he hits both - it's over.
He does and it is.

The Spurs scores 32 total points in the 2nd/3rd quarters and that proved too much to overcome; when LA needed the bucket late - they pumped it into Kareem and Kareem got it done. His 5th PotG in 7 LA wins. Kareem v Duncan did not disappoint. Lakers do this without Norm Nixon, but he'll be back for game 2.
