The '48 Indians have advanced; three of McGraw's teams have advanced including the 1921 Giants who we just saw in the prior series (yeah, I wish I could have had that bracket set up back; it was error). The Giants won the World Series (beating the Yankees again) and the Indians infamously got swept in the Series by the Giants.

Now it's the Giants in business, men on the corners with only one away - Earl Smith punches a single to score the go ahead run, Cleveland turns to 25 year old Ray Narleski, he gets a groundout that scores a second run -- Meusel then singles home a third Giants run -- and Kelly doubles home a 4th. But the MVP is Earl Smith - 4 hits today, 5 RBI -- and 3 home runs in the winner take all game.
