Steve Young's 34, in 11 starts he had 23 scores and 11 picks. 27 year old Derek Loville had a 13 TD season.  Jerry Rice is 33, All Pro, 122 catches, over 1800 yards, 16 TDs. 37 year old Rickey Jackson had 9.5 sacks and 29 year old Ken Norton and 27 year old Merton Hanks were both All Pros.

Denver's got 6 teams headed to Rnd 2; the 12th seed in the region is the '84 Broncos, here due to the 2nd best defense in football.  33 year old Barney Chavous and 26 year old Rulon Jones combined for 18.5 sacks. John Elway is 24, 19 scores and 15 picks. Over 1400 yards from scrimmage for 25 year old Sammy Winder, 27 year old Steve Watson had nearly 1200 yards receiving.  It's a young John Elway headed to San Francisco to face Young, Rice and the '95 Niners.  Let's go to Candelstick.

Denver starts at the 30.  

3 and out.  

Niners at the 40.  

1/10 - Steve Young to pass, but he pulls it down, gets back to the line.
2/10- William Floyd stopped at the line.
3/10 - Young to Derek Loville out of the backfield, he breaks a tackle and has the first down.
1/10 - Young to Floyd - he's got some room to run, Bar None all the way to the Bronco 32 yard line.

That's the end of the drive, Wilkins FG makes it 3-0.

Broncos starting at the 9.

1/10 - Sammy Winder gains a yard.
2/9 - Bryant Young is through the line and he drops Elway. 
3/14 - Elway - under pressure - throws -- It is Picked Off by Merton Hanks!  Hanks is down at the Denver 20 - Merton Hanks intercepts Elway and the Niners regain possession. 

1/10 - Floyd --- William Floyd is through the line --- William Floyd will roll into the End Zone...TOUCHDOWN 49ERS - 20 yard William Floyd TD run and the Niners are up 10-0 halfway through the quarter.

Denver at the 25- they go 3 and out, Rickey Jackson with the second SF sack - Niners take over at their own 47.

1/10 - Young...Rice.....17 yard pickup to the Denver 36.
1/10 - 4 yard Loville run.
2/6 - Young...John Taylor, 9 yards to the 23.

That's the end of the drive, another Wilkins FG and it is 13-0.

Niners at the 37.  Loville gets 2 and the quarter ends.  

2nd Qtr: 49ers 13 Broncos 0
Denver doesn't have a first down, this game is close to out of hand.  Niners 2nd and 8 at the 39.

2/8 - 6 yards for Floyd.
3/2 - Adam Walker busts out a 13 yard pickup to the Denver 42. 
1/10 - Young - rolling -- finds a wide open Floyd, William Floyd is gonna go all the way to the Denver 6 yard line -36 yard pitch and catch all the way down to the Denver 5 -- Niners just punishing the Broncos.
1/goal - Floyd is stacked up
2/goal - Adam Walker -- burrows forward into the End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS - it is 20-0 San Francisco, the 49ers just stomping their way forward.

Denver at the 20.

3/10 - John Elway -- he is going for the home run -- Steve Watson -- 57 yard Strike --- that's Denver's first first down of the day - it's a 57 yard shot and the Broncos are at the 23.
1/10 - Sammy Winder shut down
2/10 - Winder -- he goes for 7.
3/3 - Gerald Willhite comes back to the Bay Area, he picks up 3 yards and the first.  
1/10 - Winder stopped in the backfield.
2/13 - Elway --- Fires To the End Zone -- Watson -- TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS - Denver goes 80 yards in 4 minutes and it's 20-7.

Niners at the 32.  

1/10 - Young -- rifles the ball to Ted Popson, Popson with nothing but green grass, 30 yard pickup.
1/10 - Loville for 1
2/9 - Young - Rice -- Jerry's got 11 yards.  Niners at the 26.
1/10 - Young -- Brent Jones -- Jones has space -- Brent Jones is going to go --- all the way to the End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN 49ERS -- Just 4 plays for San Francisco to get that score back -- just 4 minute left in the half and the Niners are up 27-7.

Denver at the 37, they get one first down, Elway 19 yards to Wilhite - but Dana Stubblefield gets a sack to end the drive, Niners take over with 90 seconds left at their own 15.

3 and out - Niners kept throwing the ball, so Denver still has 40 seconds left and 2 timeouts when they get the ball back at their own 48.

1/10 - Draw to Winder -- 4 yards, Denver stops the clock.
2/6 - Elway - dump off to Winder, he's able to get the first down and get out of bounds, 24 seconds left, Denver at the 39.  
1/10 - Elway....Elway in trouble....Elway keeps the play alive...Elway firing across the field.....He's Got Steve Watson!  Watson all alone and he can walk into the End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS - 39 yards from Elway to Watson -- we will go to the half, Denver trailing 27-14.

3rd Qtr: 49ers 27 Broncos 14
Offensive flurry; Elway just firing away now, flinging the ball all over the field - but Denver hasn't shown any ability to stop San Francisco.  

Niners at the 16.

1/10 - Young to Loville, 10 yards.
1/10 - 4 yard gain for Loville
2/6 - Young to Taylor - JT is just short of the sticks
3/1 - Loville busts a 12 yarder, Niners at the 47.
1/10 - Floyd stacked up.
2/10 - Walket stacked up
3/10 - Young finds Brent Jones, 11 yards, Niners have a first down at the Denver 43.  
1/10 - 2 for Floyd
2/8 - Ricky Ervins gets a carry, he goes for 19 yards to the 22.
1/10 - Young to Loville, 8 yards.
2/2 - Give to Loville -- Derek Loville's Through the Line --- and Into The End Zone -- TOUCHDOWN NINERS - it is 34-14, Tremendous day for the 49er offense, just an onslaught.

Denver at the 29.

1/10 - Winder stopped at the line.
2/10 - Elway -- Watson, 20 yard gain, there's a holding call on the next play.
1/20 - Willhite for 4.  
2/16 - Incomplete
3/16 - Ray Alexander catches a 31 yard ball from Elway, it's a Denver first down at the 26.
1/10 - Give to Winder, 4 yards.
2/6 - 4th Niner sack, 2nd for Rickey Jackson.  
3/10 - Elway --- Clint Sampson -- 13 yards to the 14.
1/10 - Give to Willhite, he gets all the way down to the 3 yard line.
1/goal -- Elway -- Watson --- TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS -- that's 3 Steve Watson TD receptions on the day and it is 34-21.  

Niners at the 33, a William Floyd 14 yard run gets the Niners to the 46 as the quarter ends.

4th Qtr: 49ers 34 Broncos 21
San Francisco has scored on all but one possession, they have a first down at their own 46.

1/10 - Incomplete
2/10 - Loville loses a yard.
3/11 - Young finds Jones, 17 yard pickup and a first down.
1/10 - Young -- Rice, that's a first down to the 27.
1/10 - Young is sacked, Tom Jackson takes him down.
2/16 - Incomplete
3/16 - Young ----- JJ Stokes with his first reception of the day -- 33 yards, Niners first and goal at the 2 yard line!

The Niners can't punch it in - they setting for the chip shot and it is 37-21, less than 10 to play.

Denver at the 35.

One first down, it's a draw, Willhite goes for 45; but at 4th and 6 and the Niner 11, Bryant Young gets his second sack of the day, that's 5 Niners sacks, San Francisco takes over with less than 6 to play.

All running plays, Denver burns through their timeouts, Niners get two first downs on William Floyd runs - Denver gets the ball back after a punt, they're at their own 19, a little more than 2 to play.  

Nothing for Denver, 4 plays and out - Niners get the ball back and it's victory formation for the win .

San Francisco dominates here and the 8th 49ers team hits round 2.
