22 year old DRose is first team All NBA, 20+ PER and double digit WS. The Bulls had the best regular season record in 2011; DRose was MVP. Joakim Noah is 25, 2nd Team All Defense. Rose was named to the All Star Game. Thibodeau was Coach of the Year.  An incredible run so far for the Bulls - undefeated in the tournament, the first time we've seen that occur in the Regional Finals.  Rose in good shape to win Region 3 MVP with a Bulls win in this series.

The 8th seed in Region 3 is the '97 Sonics; 28 year old GP leads the way; he and 27 year old Shawn Kemp have 20 + PER with double digit WS. 30 year old Hersey Hawkins also hits double digit WS - Payton was PotG in both Sonics wins in Rnd 1.  GP was All Defense first team. Payton/Kemp and 34 year old Detlef all named to the All Star Game. Payton was runner up in the Defensive Player of the Year.  The Sonics have lost just once and they swept both rounds 2 and 3.

It's 25 year old Kawhi's Spurs; he's a top 5 player in the league, 36 year old Gasol also is 20+ PER, Kawhi finished 3rd in the MVP voting.  We just saw the '04 Spurs lose the Region 1 Final; 13 years later here's the '17 club, the only holdovers are Parker and Ginobli. The Spurs beat a version of these Rockets in the playoffs and have lost just once in the tournament.  Kawhi was All Defense first team, Danny Green made the second team. Kawhi was an All Star.

The 2019 Rockets got bounced in the first round of the playoffs; they're here though, facing the Bulls; 28 year old Harden was 1st in WS, VORP, 2nd in PER and 3rd in WS/48. 24 year old Capela, 29 year old Faried cross 20 PER and Capela adds double digit WS; Harden won the MVP the year before and was second this year.  The Rockets knocked off the top seeded Bulls and, like the Spurs, have lost just once in the tournament. Harden was an All Star.

The top remaining seed in Region 1 is San Antonio; it's all about the 27 year old Duncan, 2nd in the NBA in PER, 3rd in Win Shares, 3rd in VORP, 2nd in WS/48.  The Spurs were the top defensive team in '04 and just run of the mill offensively. San Antonio has yet to have an easy series; they've had to go down to the Showdown in all 3 rounds - Duncan's been PotG in all 6 Spurs wins; if they close this out, he will win MVP for Region 1.  Duncan had won back to back MVPs coming into 2004, Garnett took the award this year.  Duncan was an All Star in '04, Bowen made the All Defensive first team, Duncan the 2nd team.

 It's 20 year old Magic's rookie season; he and 32 year old Kareem have PERs over 20, he, 26 year old Wilkes and Kareem all have double digit Win Shares.  Kareem's 1st Team All NBA for the World Champion Lakers; he also took home the MVP.  The Lakers knocked off the top seed in Region 1, the 2017 Warriors; like the Spurs, they've been to the Showdown game in every round.
