-This is still not a very good team, a below .500 pythag club; but we won the NL West, then got swept by the Marlins (I was at both of the road games, both walk off losses).  Sabean's now GM, Dick Tidrow the farm director. Bonds has another MVPQ season. Interleague play starts this year and we won the first ever game; Brian Johnson beat the Dodgers in mid September in an all time great Candlestick moment.

-13th in NL attendance, another crushingly bad season costs Bob Quinn the GM job.  Bonds picks up nearly 10 more WAR, becoming the second player ever with 40 homers and 40 steals in the same year; he also hit his 300th homer, and I probably saw us lose a half dozen times at Candlestick, my first home games (and maybe last) in a dozen years.  This is maybe the worst starting pitching ever, in 114 years of Giants baseball.  Both Thompson and Williams leave at season's end.

-Awful, a sub 70 pythag win club, almost as bad as that '85 team.  Barry has another MVPQ season and we deal for Deion Sanders.  Unfortunately, the Falcons were not on the schedule.  Mulholland's season is the worst yet for any San Francisco pitcher, Bautista's the worst for any reliever.
