#40 January 1, 1989 Bill's Last Win

A year before, one of the great Niners teams of all time got blown out in the first round of the playoffs by the Vikings.

Not this year.  In what would be Bill Walsh's last ever Candlestick win, Jerry Rice scored three first half touchdowns, Roger Craig added two in the 4th quarter, and the Niners began their third Super Bowl playoff run with a 34-9 win over the Vikings.

The Niners had 6 sacks; Ronnie Lott had two picks - a week later the Niners went into Soldier Field, beat the Bears, and went on to win the Super Bowl.

#41 July 18, 1970 3,000

Willie Mays became the 10th man in MLB history to get 3,000 hits with a single off of Mike Wegener.

The Giants rolled the Expos 10-1; Gaylord Perry homered (he had 6 homers in 22 seasons) and threw a complete game 4 hitter.
