So, not every team in the league is designed to be equal, there are "leftover" teams, the runoff from the players not chosen for the decade teams. They'd have chips on their shoulders from not being selected.
This first team isn't really just early 20th century, it's every MLB player who played up until 1949 who hasn't already been selected (or who isn't still to be selected by a later decade).
